När Estland kritiserade Sverige, ett par dagar efter att det nyupptäckta hålet i Estonias skrov kommit till allmänhetens kännedom, sa statsminister Stefan Löfven med bestämd röst ”Sverige ljuger inte om Estonia”.

Han har helt rätt, ett land kan inte ljuga däremot kan förtroendevalda och myndighetspersoner i ett land inte sköta sina uppdrag genom att undanhålla sanningen eller inte vilja ta reda på den.

Igår sändes en intervju på SwebbTV där Jüri Lina berättade om ytterligare ett hål i varket.

SwebbTV blev blockerad och raderad av Youtube i slutet av december 2020, på grund av brott mot Youtubes regler om rapportering om Corona, samt hatretorik.

Google, som äger Youtube anförde bland annat två tillfällen då kanalen brutit mot Googles regler om rapporteringen kring corona.

Detta har medfört att alla intervjuer som de haft om M/S Estonia försvunnit från min blogg.

Redan i januari 2020 tog ERR (Estlands public service-bolag för TV och radio) upp att Discovery, som distribuerat dokumentärserien hade erbjudit både svenska och estniska regeringen att se deras resultat före publicering.

Svenskarna avböjde.

Däremot träffade Discovery representanter från Estland vid två tillfällen. Andra gången tog de dessutom med sig ett team av kunniga experter. 

Det material som då visades innehöll även bilder av en mindre spricka i skrovet.

Den estniska regeringen har uttryckt ett intresse av att granska materialet vidare och om medlemmar från de svenska myndigheterna skulle vilja göra det samma, är de välkomna, säger Discovery.

Att se sanningen i vitögat är både befriande och läkande!

För att ingen ska missförstå så lägger jag in hela kommentaren som Discovery lämnat till ERR genom sin taleskvinna Hanne McBride:

There has been full transparency from Discovery’s side towards the authorities, where representatives from both the Swedish and Estonian governments have been invited to view our findings prior to publication. The Swedes declined, while representatives from Estonia met with us on two occasions. The second time, they brought a team of maritime experts, who were also shown material which we have not published in the series. This material also includes images of a minor crack in the hull. Today the Estonian government expressed an interest in reviewing the material further, a request we have agreed to. We are currently sorting out the practicalities around this. If members from the Swedish authorities should wish to review our material, we will also welcome their request.

   The documentary has been made following ordinary journalistic methods. We have sought to shed light on the tragedy from several angles. Our assessments throughout the process have left us with the finished series, which presents several new facts. Our aim has been to stay clear of presenting any new speculations to the public, but to reveal new facts and analysis. We have made several discoveries in the work with the series. Among these is also a minor crack in the hull. All ROV images have been analyzed by experts, and our finished series presents those discoveries we, through our journalistic assessments, have found to be relevant. The major damage we present in the series has different characteristics than any other wound we found, as there is a substantial indentation, something experts suggest point to an outside force impacting the hull. 

   The hole in the hull presented in the series is of great public interest. Our analyses show the force of impact which has had to be present in order to make this hole. The series never denies that such a hole could be a result of the ship hitting the seabed, on the contrary this theory is both lifted and examined by our expert in the series. However, any further investigations into the matter must be made by the right authorities, as it takes time and significant means to carry out such investigations.

   We will not be a part of the politics involved in this case, and what theories either government’s experts work from, is not our place to comment on.
